Choosing a 2027 diary: week or day, size and school year

Week or day: the layout

The layout is nearly always in the name, as "7 dagen/2 pagina's" (7 days on 2 pages) or "1 dag/1 pagina" (1 day per page):

• 7 days on 2 pages: the whole week across one spread, with a box per day for a few appointments. That is the layout of, for example, the Ryam Weekplan and the Moleskine 12M Weekly 7 days on 2 pages.
• 7 days on 1 page: the week on the left, a ruled page for notes on the right. Moleskine calls this the Weekly Notebook; one example is the Moleskine 12M Planner Weekly large.
• 1 day per page: a full page per day, for people with many appointments or who keep a journal. For example the Multo Hannibal A5 and the Sigel Conceptum A5.
• 1 month on 2 pages: an overview of the whole month, like the Brepols Plan-O-Rama. Useful next to a weekly diary or if you have few appointments.

Which size suits you?

A diary that always comes with you is small: a pocket diary or A6. On your desk it can be bigger: A5 or more. Moleskine uses its own sizes: Pocket is 9 x 14 cm, Large 13 x 21 cm and XL 19 x 25 cm. The Moleskine Pocket fits in a coat pocket, the Large is about the size of A5.

Look at the cover too. A hard cover ("hc") keeps the diary firm, a soft cover ("sc") is lighter and bends. A ring binding or spiral lies flat when open.

Calendar year, 18 months or school year

Most diaries run from January to December 2027. There are two exceptions:

• 18 months: Moleskine makes 18-month planners that start in July 2026 and run to the end of December 2027, such as the Moleskine 18M Planner Weekly. That way the rest of this year is in it too.
• School year: a school diary runs over the school year, shown in the name as "2026-2027". The My Journal school diary A5 and the Fabrique school diary A5 from A Journal are such diaries. If you buy one now, part of the school year has already gone.

A new refill for your cover

If you have a leather or faux leather cover, you don't need to replace it every year. Succes, Brepols and Ryam sell the inside on its own as a diary refill. It has to fit your cover exactly: Succes names the size, such as Mini or Senior. Examples are the Succes Senior 7 days on 2 pages, the Succes Mini 4 days on 2 pages, the Brepols Brefax 7 and the Ryam Memoplan 7 Compact. Check your old diary for the brand and size.

On the desk or on the wall

If you want the week large in front of you, there is the desk pad: a big planner that lies on your desk, such as the Brepols Desk Mate with a week per sheet. There is also the desk calendar, such as the Sigel Conceptum desk calendar. For a family or a team there is the wall planner, such as the erasable Kangaro wall planner of 70 x 100 cm. You find them all under diaries and calendars.

Language and week numbers

Some diaries are printed in several languages. Brepols also makes the Interplan in a six-language version, and Sigel puts "NL/FR/EN/DU" in the name. Diaries in the Netherlands and Belgium usually show week numbers; if you want to look them up beforehand, they are in Week numbers 2027.
